Kenzie was born at 8:03 pm Thursday January 5th. She was 7lbs 10oz and 19 1/2 inches long. I know its more fun to look at the pictures but I did want to tell about that day so hopefully it's not too long. I started having contractions at 7am Thursday morning. I got out of bed and started timing them. They were about 5 minutes apart but weren't consistent in the intensity of the contractions. I knew that I didn't really dilate on my own but got sent home so many times with the twins I wanted to be sure that my contractions were hard and consistent before I went. I busily started packing up and getting ready. I had most of my stuff already packed but I had not gotten together anything for the girls to stay with their grandma's. The first part of the morning I was able to walk and breath through the contractions still coming every 5 minutes. But afternoon came and I started to have to sit down with them and they were coming every 3 minutes. I called the doctor's office and asked if I could come in and get checked or if he would do the c-section based off of the contractions not the dilation. They decided it was best to go straight to the hospital.

(Side note story) at the same time they told me I should go to the hospital Kloey started coughing really raspy and so hard I thought she was throwing up. I knew immediately that she needed to get into the doctors. So I panic called aunt Ry and asked if she could take her in. She had croup.

It took awhile to get checked in and for them to monitor my contractions. By this time it was after business hours and my doctor was unavailable and we had to wait for the on call doctor. I was pretty mad at myself for not going in earlier because I probably could have had her earlier in the day and with my doctor. But the on call doctor was very nice and I think she did a good job. Because I wasn't to 39 weeks I had to have a doctor's override to have the c-section. The doctor finally got there and came and check me out and to see if I was progressing. I told her about not dilating and just then my water broke. Yep were having this baby right now. It took less than 10 minutes to get into the operating room and deliver the baby. Earlier while we were waiting for the dr. to show up I started getting really nauseous. They gave me some medicine right before the surgery and it helped it to not be so acid but I still felt like I was going to throw up. All through the surgery I had to swallow hard to just keep it down. I hadn't eaten in 24 hours so I didn't know why I felt so sick. Also I had a hard time breathing. I felt like I was running a marathon and almost hyperventilating. But both baby and mother made it through just fine.

I was still really nauseous the rest of the night and even though they kept giving me medicine through my IV to help I finally throw up when I had to take my oral medication for the night. Long story short about the rest of the stay. I didn't sleep one single minute for the first 40 hours I was there and if you know me you know that's a real problem. I was kind of out of it and really tired the whole hospital stay.

Unfortunately the girls got sick the week Kenzie was born so they weren't able to come see her in the hospital and had to wait until we came home. They were so excited. It was fun watching them meet her for the first time. Here are a few moments from that night.

Tis the Season

I wanted to share an amazing experience I had a couple of weeks ago. I was taking my monthly Walmart trip without the kids to stock up on groceries for the next month. I was standing in front of the hair sections looking for elastics and clips for the girls. I was standing there for quite sometime and happened to over hear a conversation of a guy who was pacing up and down the aisle. He was in sort of a panic because his wife was very sick. She required some medication that he didn't have money to pay for. Listening on she would require an operation the next day. I don't know if they were from out of town or just down on their luck without a place to stay. But when I heard him tell his friend that he hoped his wife would make it through the night out in the cold. He went further on to say that all he needed was $30 and that he had no way of coming up with the money. After a couple of minutes of processing this conversation I overheard I felt very impressed to go back and find this poor guy and give him the money he needed. It took me about 5 minutes of going up and down the aisle trying to find this guy. I went up and first apologized for ease dropping on his conversation but then handed him the money. He was shocked and somewhat speechless but began to cry saying thank you so much! It was my pleasure and wished him a Merry Christmas and that I was glad I could help. I will have to admit that as I walked away my eyes filled with tears too.

We love it when the cousins come in town because we get to do fun activities. Today we ventured down town to the Children's Museum. The girls had so much fun and loved the grocery store.

Ok so yesterday was the day from hell! I have been in kind "spring cleaning" fall mode going through closets switching to fall clothes. The girls were getting into lots of stuff. They climbed up on the counter and eat several chocolate chip cookies each. Then climbed up again into the cupboards and opened new containers of the little $1 cookie cups and started downing those. It had been less then 2 minutes since I had checked on them when Kloey comes into the room with stuff all over her face. I realized what it was and started frantically leaving the room to find the halls covered in magic marker all the way to the couch and living room walls. I was dying. It was everywhere! I called my mom in a panic and she was kind enough to help me scrub it all down. I am thankful for this couch to have been microfiber and just buying a new box of magic erasers the day before. Also just two weeks earlier I felt suckered into one of those expensive cleaners they sale door to door with their sales pitch of this can get out marker. Boy am I grateful I bought it. It got almost everything out. The day continued with short naps and tons of tantrums to the final straw of the day...I was trying to fix dinner while also trying to look up something on the computer for Seth and found that they had dumped out the full cupboard of DVDs and started taking all the disc out and spreading them all over. I had reach my limit so even though dinner wasn't ready yet I locked them in their highchairs and just listened to them whine and cry but at least I knew where they were. So I am hoping for better days to come.

The big 2!

Once again I am a little behind in posting. As you know the twins turned 2. I can't believe how fast they grow up. They are talking a lot and even sometimes full sentences. There vocabulary is getting better and better and I swear they learn something new everyday. It is scary though at what they are picking up ie having to watch what you say and watch on TV. They are so smart. Libby's favorite thing to say is "what's that" to everything. It sometimes can get really annoying. There 2 year check up went well. I usually take someone with me to help it go smoother and I thought I would be brave and go for it alone. Big mistake! It made it very challenging to talk to the doctor and for him to examine them. Oh well lessons learned. Kloey is still bigger than Libby by quite a bit. I'll post the stats at the end of the post. They love singing and dancing. They have pretty much learned every ones names and love to sit and say it over and over again until they can get your attention. Needless to say I hear mom, mom, mom, mom over and over again all day long. They love to say "watch me" and show you there little tricks. My sister is getting married and they are excited to have Kimball join the family or as they call him Kimbo.

I have started the dreadful process of potty training. Thankfully my mom has been helping me. We give them lots of salty treats and juice and then set them on the potty every fifteen minutes. Then they get the potty dance and high five and m&m's if they go. Sometimes they are the one telling us they have to go which I hope gets more frequent. The first day went really well but then second day Kloey has really been struggling. Hopefully she will start to get it. Wish me luck!

Ok I know this is really late but I had to gather pictures from a couple different people to put this post together. The girls turned two last month and we did a Bieber Fever x 2 party because they are obsessed with his music especially his Baby Baby song. It doesn't matter what they are doing if this song comes on they start dancing. It's so dang cute. Libby even knows a bunch of the words too. My mom and I had a lot of fun putting together this little party as you can see from the pictures.

Expecting the unexpected!

Ok I know this sounds crazy but I never knew I was pregnant until this past week. I am 12 weeks now and the baby is doing fine. I was surprised because of our challenges with getting pregnant the first time around and last month we even started the adoption process. I have only had 4 periods since the twins were born so their was no sign of missed periods. I never even got sick. The only reason we know now is that I have started to show. Starting a couple of weeks ago I just thought that I had put on 5 lbs and have been eating crappy but the past two weeks my stomach has really been expanding and my family finally convinced me to take a pregnancy test. 3 tests later POSITIVE on all 3. I was kind of worried because we were leaving the next day for 5 days to a family reunion. It was hard not knowing how far along I was and having to find a new dr under my insurance. I can't get into the actual dr until Aug 1st but the cute nurse there set up an appointment for an ultrasound today so I could see how far along I was. Jan 20th is my due date and everything looks great! Now we just hope we get a boy! I can't get this picture any bigger sorry.

The girls are obsessed with Justin Bieber and the song Baby. They will instantly start dancing when it comes on and loves to watch the music video. Libby is so funny because she will always go down onto the floor and try to do a somersault when he says the words, down down down. It's pretty funny on this video because she got really dizzy. The last video is them trying to do ring around the Rosie's. They only know the words ashes ashes we all fall down. They do it around the house.

Sad time at the Cottle's

It's been a rough couple of weeks for us. We have been sick for over 3 weeks with coughs, fevers, runny noses, ear infections. We just can't seem to shake it. It's hard to sleep when someone is hacking up all night. Well last Sunday things got a little more complicated. Libby snuck up on grandma while she was trying to put a table leaf away and accidentally got her foot smashed. It instantly swelled up like a golf ball and turned black and blue. Since it was a Sunday we had to go to the insta care. She broke her metatarsal bone in her foot. We tried really hard the next several days to get the swelling down before her appointment with the orthopedic doctor. We found out today that she is going to be fine. Her fracture will heal nice and quickly (3-4 weeks). They wanted to put her in a walking boot but they didn't have one small enough to fit her so we just have to wrapped it to keep the swelling down and then have a good sturdy soled shoe on her. So that's good she doesn't have to have a cast on. So here's to better days to come.

18 months!

So I know I am a few weeks late but the girls are now 18 months. I can't believe how fast they grow up. They are little people now, no longer babies. They both have different personalities. They have learned to laugh and play together but also how to protect the stuff that they want. There is still fighting when they both want the same thing. Ok Libby wants what ever Kloey has no matter what it is. They are getting a lot of time-outs lately because they are into everything. Their biggest problems lately have been them climbing on things. They know how to pull a chair to climb on the table or counter or to a light switch. I can put them on timeout 10 times in a 15 min period and they still don't understand that it is a no-no. It can be really frustrating. Those are the days I absolutely love having the gym pass. It's a nice break for mom to have some breathing room and get recharged. The girls struggled in the daycare at first but they are getting better. The girls are building up their vocabulary which is nice because it took them awhile to learn their first few words. I swear they learn a new word or action everyday. They really love to dance. The bounce up and down, twirl and even do some somersaults. They get lots of practice because I am always listing to music. Its so funny Kloey squats when she is pooping and then when we ask her if is has a stinky bum she says eew and ka-ka. Then Libby will always run and get the diapers and wipes for us. Libby is the biggest helper. She loves to throw away her own diapers and to help sweep and pick up the toys. They know their routine pretty well and get so excited for their activities and bath time. Kloey is more outgoing right now and Libby is a little more timid. They love to wave and flirt with people. Right now Libby is a total daddy's girls. I love getting hugs and kisses! I am so grateful to have them in my life. Love you girls!

So part two of our Christmas was the Cottle family vacation. We spent a couple of days in Vegas and then a couple of days in Palm Springs. We did lots of swimming, games, picture taking and had lots of treats!

Part 1 of Christmas

We had a very busy December filled with party's, Santa Claus, the Grinch, concerts and lots of time with family. I don't know why but my photo's always upload weird but since I have several posts to do I am leaving it the way it is. So sorry they are in random order.

This year the Westover family was all going to be gone over Christmas so we decided to do Christmas early. The Sunday before Christmas Shardawg fixed us a terrific meal. Then we opened presents and we were all spoiled. Seth got some tennis stuff. I got some clothes and gift certifcates to go buy some new pots and pans and a wireless speaker system for my ipod. The girls were totally spoiled! The got a gourmet kitchen, dishes, food, dolls and strollers, and their very own cleaning set. It has been fun to see them play with them. They are getting so big and so smart.

Thanksgiving 2010

Thanksgiving was fun this year. We went to Seth's parents early in the day and then to my parents in the evening. Then Friday morning we headed up to the cabin. There was a lot of fresh snow and we had a good time sledding. It will be even better when there is even more snow but the downside to that is we are going to have to hike in because we don't have a vehicle that will make it to our cabin.

Halloween

Ok so I am a little late in posting this but a lot went on so sorry the post is so long. We had a great Halloween. We did the Cottle family Halloween party at Aunt Tanna's house. The girls loved going door to door in the house. Libby had a big accident when she fell off the chair and hit the wall and the hit the ground and then the picture frame from the wall came tumbling down on top of her. She had a good cry but was ok. Then we did our ward trunk or treat on Wednesday. Thursday we headed off to Arizona.

On the trip there we had some difficult times. The girls were running crazy around the airport. We kind of let them so they would hopefully be worn out by the time we got on the flight. Well Kloey took several spills. Once over my feet and face planted it into the hard carpet with a bump and her face. Then a little while later she tripped again over some guys feet and landed right on the base of the chair and got a big black eye and bump on the nose. I thought for the longest time it looked broken. I felt so bad for her. It also didn't help that the flight was delayed over an hour both there and back. Two toddlers in the airport, chaos. Thankfully grandma was there to help. So once we got on the plane they slept for part of the time and did awesome. The next challenge trying to get two pieces of luggage, two car seats, purses, diaper bags, camera and two toddlers to the rental car area. I had one of those REALLY?! moments. We had all of our stuff piled on a cart with Kloey on top when it all tipped over. It made a big crash and everyone gasped and looked over. The sad thing... not one person came over to help us. You could obviously see that we were struggling but they all just stared as we tried to pick everything up. Really! Anyway we finally made it to Jesse's and Kristi's. The rest of the trip was fun and filled with Halloween activities such as pumpkin patches, trunk or treats, neighborhood BBQ's and decorating pumpkins. We had so much fun.

15 Months

The girls are now 15 months. They are growing up so fast. We went to the doctor for their check-ups and here are their stats.

I can't believe how small she is still. I guess that's because she is a lot more active and walking around. She is so stinking smart. She loves to put the shapes in the holes. She has learned to blow her own nose. She wants to be a big helper to mom. She is always handing me stuff and playing in the dishwasher. She always want to do something like mom does. She tries to put on my clothes, shoes, pick up toys. It's so cute. Libby loves to bring me books.

I can't believe how much bigger Kloey is. Kloey is a much better eater than Libby. She is such a flirt. She will go to anyone and loves to smile and interact with other people. She likes to follow mom around the house. Partly because she wants mom to hold her. She also loves to hand me stuff. She loves to play with moms hair and jewelry. She doesn't quite know what no means or she just doesn't care because she will keep on doing it or just laugh at you when you put her in time out. She loves to dance whenever mom has her music on. She will sometimes also join in with her singing. It's so stinking cute. She is getting closer and saying Hi mom.

Both-

When you say hello or hi they put up their hands like they are talking on the phone. They love to help out with the dishwasher. They get into everything. When I am cooking dinner or getting ready I finally decided instead of constantly telling them to not get into something I let them entertain themselves and then spend 5 minutes just cleaning up after them after each room I'm in. They love to play with their dad. They are always laughing when he's around and just light up when he comes home. One of their favorite things lately has been their tooth brushes. They love to try to be like mom and dad. They are getting better at playing with each other. Kloey still likes to hit and Libby gets back by biting. We are trying to work on that. They both are starting to like Sesame Street and Mickey Mouse Club House. They both still love remotes and cell phones. I am a little worried that they don't really know any words yet. But we'll keep on working on that.

Miss Kloey has her first big injury from walking. She tried reaching out for my bed post to stand up and missed it but caught her head on the corner. So sad. At least it didn't bleed.

K so this is super gross. I inherited a pillow that my great grandma made that my mom grew up with. When I was younger I didn't appreciate it and didn't treat it very well. I would jump off the deck onto the tramp with it and the feathers would fly out. By the time I got older it was the perfect size to curl up in my hands and sleep with it. It was so gross though that it had several stitches to keep what was left in it and it had three pillow cases over it just to keep the outside clean. Well after years of using it I have decided to get rid of this security item. Here is what it looked like. Bye Bye!

I can't believe my girls are already one tomorrow. I remember this time last year so miserable and just praying that they would come soon. On July 1st I had a doctor's appointment telling me that even though I was having pretty hard contractions I wasn't dilating and so he was sending me home. I started crying right then and there begging to move up the date. He took pity on me and the next day they were brought into the world. I am so grateful for them. We tried so long and hard to get them here. I just remember that on the really tough days. The girls are getting so big. The first year flew by and I hope I enjoyed every little moment I could. Here is a few things about each of them.

Liberty
1. Loves the water. She thinks its so funny to dunk her head in the water and blow bubbles. I can't believe that she can do it for about 15 seconds. She also wants to think she is swimming by herself so you have to hold her away from your body.

2. Has become a little bit more of a picky eater but that doesn't stop her from stuffing her mouth so full with the stuff she does like. She has learned how to feed the dogs from the table and much to my dismay throws her food on the floor when she doesn't like it.

3. She is so close to walking. She will take about 4-5 steps on her own. She loves when we get so excited for her to do this. But if she doesn't make it she gets really upset and throws a royal tantrum.

4. She loves to get into everything. When you tell her no one of two things will happen, she'll turn around and smile at you and then do it anyway or her feelings get really hurt and she will cry her guts out.

5. She loves to make Kloey laugh. She has gotten better at defending herself against Kloey so now it's just funny to watch them fight back and forth for the favorite toy. She loves to share with you as long as you give it right back to her.

Thanks Libby for being such a bundle of joy and I'm grateful that you have blessed this family.

Kloey

1. Kloey is a lot bigger than Libby. She is taller and much heavier. Which is interesting to me because they are twins.

2. She makes the funniest faces. She loves to do this grunting thing where she sticks out her lower jam and grunts like a pro wrestler. She also starting coping Libby who sniffs like a dragon. It's their pretend mad face. They will get in each others faces and see who can do it better.

3. She is a really good eater and basically engulfs her food. That's probably why she weights so much more.

4. She loves to crawl to your feet and hang on your legs until you pick her up. She will even do this little whine thing that sounds like she is howling. Sometimes it can be really hard for mom to do things.

5. She doesn't really get the concept of no. It's like shes pretending that she didn't even hear it.

6. She loves the pool too and is getting more daring.

Liberty Park

Last week when the boys were in town we had a picnic up at Liberty Park. They have this cool section of rock waterfalls and wade pools for the little kids to play in. The girls loved it. They are such little fishes now. They love the water. They love swimming at grandma's and will stay in the pool for hours. Libby loves to dunk her face in the water and blow bubbles. She seems to little for that but she thinks its so funny. Seth is ruthless to them and they have been dunked, thrown up in the air and have even ventured down the slide by themselves (of course with someone at the bottom to catch them). The dogs got so protective when they went down. They thought they were in trouble.

A tribute to Grandma Maxfield

My sweet grandma passed away last Saturday and this week has been filled with family events. I had the pleasure of being there the day she past. I went earlier in the week to say my goodbyes and was sad that she was not conscious to respond to me but I know that she could still heard me. I said I love you and to say hi to my grandpa who passed 11 years ago. My grandma has been suffering from Alzheimer's and it has been sad to see her slowing slip away from us over the past several years. There were however moments that I will cherish when she told us stories she has never told before. Stories about my grandpa and how they met. Some of the jobs I didn't know she had and many more memories. Last Tuesday my grandma fell and broke her pelvis in several different places. At first the doctor said it would be a long recovery and that she would be in a special care center for up to 6 weeks and then would probably be in a wheel chair. The following day they reaccessed her and determined that she would not recover from this injury. It was now down to 6 weeks. They set her up with hospice and they told us that it probably wouldn't even be that long, maybe 2 weeks. All the grand kids gathered over the next several days to say their goodbyes. She was in a lot of pain and hoped that it would be sooner. On Saturday she was not doing well at all and so they decided that it would be that night or the next morning. They decided to take her off oxygen and so I decided to stop by one last time. I got there and a bunch of family was gathered around her bed. We cried and held her hand and then knew it was coming any minute. We said a family prayer and sang a hymn and then within a couple of minutes she was gone. It was so peaceful and the spirit was so strong. We know that she is in a better place. We know she is happy, has a clear mind and is young and beautiful once again. Most of all I am glad she is back with my grandpa. We love and miss them so much but I am glad we have the understanding that we will see them again. I don't know how people deal with death not knowing about eternal families. It just breaks my heart. Well grandma one last time... I LOVE YOU and you will be missed.

Updates!

So let me fill you in on some updates for my family.

We sold Seth's car and got a minivan! I know I thought I would never own one but I have to say it has been kind of nice. I love having the power doors. It helps out a lot with the girls. And soon when they can turn around they will love the DVD player. Now I can have the stroller in the car at all times and still have room for other stuff. We were able to fit everyone in the car and all the luggage going down to AZ.

The girls had their 9 month check up last month and are doing great. Kloey still has a flat head but we are hoping it will start to fill in. Kloey was 27 inches long (50%) and 18 lbs (40%). Libby is a little bit smaller at 26.2 (20%) inches long and 17 lbs (20%). They are both very mobile now. They can crawl anywhere and everywhere. They are getting into everything. They know the word No now but they will either cry when they hear it or give a smirk and do it anyway. I can't keep them out of my sight for a second. They can pull themselves up on furniture or people for that matter. They are really clingy right now which makes it hard when you have two of them. They can walk pretty well as long as they are touching something. I am sure they will be walking all on their own in no time. It's fun to see them interact with each other more. Kloey is still the bully. She will take everything from Libby. They make a lot of sounds but no full words yet. They are so cute and make the funniest expressions.

Last weekend we drove down to Arizona to participate in London's baby blessing. The drive was long but the girls did pretty good. Dad was so nice to us and got us a place and the Arizona Grand. It was an awesome place filled with wave pools, several different pools and water slides. It was so nice to be in warm weather expect they were having a cold front but once again it was better then the snow. We did lots of swimming, some shopping and lots of hanging out with family. It was so much fun. I just wish Seth was able to take off work to go with us. Here are some pictures of our weekend.

Easter fun

This years Easter was so much fun. We were all together as a family down in St. George. I finally got to meet baby London. We got to spend some time with the Bells. Some I haven't seen in a long time. We went to the park and played some good old fashion games and kite flying contests, decorating eggs and so much more. The girls loved their first time at the park. They can't wait to go back when it's warm in Salt Lake. The girls loved getting their first Easter baskets and went to town on the grass inside. On Sunday mom put on the best Easter egg hunt for all age groups. I don't know if she will be able to top it. It was so much fun. Here are some highlights of the week.

New moves

Kloey is now crawling. She is still trying to get the hang of it so you really have to catch her attention with something to make her want to move. I am sure she will be cruising everywhere soon. Miss Libby still just rolls everywhere she needs to go. She rolls to the funniest places in our family room. They both love their finger foods and are pretty good eaters. Libby says mama and Kloey says the dada sounds but they don't really no what they mean yet. Libby has turned into such a mommy's girl. She is starting to have a little bit of that separation anxiety. She will freak out if she thinks you have left her all alone. She still loves grandpa lee bob the most and loves to watch sports with him. Rylee was even teaching her to do the touchdown signals. Kloey is learning to clap and almost has the hang of it. They both still love their bath. Libby has learned how to blow bubbles in the water but I have yet to catch it on film. I swear it's a free for all in there. They both beat up each other trying to get the most room or toy. It's so cute to watch them start to play with each other. And so the taking toys away from each other begins!

I just wanted to take a minute and tell Seth how much I love him. I am so thankful that he works so hard to give me the opportunity to stay home with our girls. I know having two jobs (well kind of three) is hard but hopefully soon we will be able to get everything settled down and it won't be this bad. I miss him being around and the girls just love to be around him. They turn to the sound of his voice anytime he walks in the room. Plus they like all the cool tricks that dad does with them. Thanks for everything you do!

My girls are the cutest things ever! They are growing up so fast. It is so fun to watch their different personalities. Libby is usually slightly ahead of Kloey in the milestones. They both love to roll over all over the place. Definitely time to baby proof. Libby loves to roll over in the tub. At first I would get really mad at her but I start to see what she would do. She was really good about going back in forth without getting her face in the water so I let her do it sometimes and just watch her closely. She is the biggest fish. She will kick and swim just to get to her bath toys. Kloey just starting doing it today too but she hasn't mastered the whole rolling thing like Libby does. I haven't taken them to the doctors lately so I am not totally sure but from just using the scale at home and holding them they are 16 1/2 lbs. Kloey is definitely much taller than Libby and Libby is just solid. I call her my chunky monkey. Everyone's favorite game is to try to get them to laugh which is a lot now. Libby got her two bottom teeth. Poor Rylee had to endure that. :( And I think Kloey is really getting close to breaking through some. We are working on sitting without help. It seems that once Libby tries to do something in the bath she will totally do it on the ground now. That's why she is doing better balancing for sitting. She is totally trying to sit up by herself but hasn't figured out that yet. Kloey is working on being on her hands and knees without having her head on the ground. I love them so much and can't imagine my life without them! I am so glad I finally got the chance to be a mom.

A little late but here's our cruise

Sorry this is going to be kind of lengthy because technically I am using this as a journal now so you're welcome to just skip to the pictures.

So a couple of weeks ago Seth went on a cruise. It was very interesting trying to get there. We had made the decision a few weeks before to go on this cruise because we found an amazing deal. We wanted some company so we invited everyone we knew. So originally it was going to be one of Seth's friend Dayton and his wife and then my parents. Well a few weeks before we found out that Dayton could no longer go and had to postpone his trip. Then my dad decides he wants to have his knee surgery before the cruise instead of after. So three weeks before he had knee surgery. He was feeling fine and then the week of the cruise he developed a blood clot and was no longer able to travel. My parents went back and forth about what to do with their reservation. At first it looked like they were going to completely lose their money. It took them three times trying to get to a nice person that would help them out and they finally agreed to do one name change. So my mom called up her friend Kristen and asked if she wanted to come at the last second. She was great and a lot of fun to be with so I'm glad she came. We headed off to New Orleans for the port of call but it worked out better if we went the day before. We weren't expecting it to be so cold so we froze the whole time we were there. We did a little site seeing and then boarded the ship the next day. The first day was at sea and with it being so cold in New Orleans it wasn't way warm that day. While on the ship we played a lot of cards. It was funny to see the regulars in there and we definitely looked out of place from all the old people that set up in there. We enjoyed the shows. They actually had really good entertainment on this cruise. They had a circusola act, and a comedy group from Second City and then the cruise ships singers and dancers. The last night they had the most amazing show. Definitely a Vegas worthy show.

Now to the ports of call. The first stop was Costa Maya and we went and saw the Mayan ruins. It was very interesting.

The second stop was Santo Tomas De Castilla, Guatemala. We were brave and found a taxi to take us around. The challenging thing about this was he didn't speak English and we didn't speak Spanish. We hiked through the rain forest to some natural water fall that we got to swim in. Then our driver should us around town. We asked him to take us to a traditional restaurant. When we got in there we found out that nobody their spoke any English and the menu was also in Spanish so we were kind of at a lost of what to order. Finally one of the waitresses found a patron that was eating there that grow up there but owns a restaurant in Trenton, NJ. He was really nice and helped us order and then stayed with us the whole meal to make sure we were able to pay the bill correctly. It was definitely an interesting day. Where is Jesse when you need him.

The third stop was Belize. This was probably my favorite day. We did a zip line through the jungle that was really fun and pretty. Although if you ask Seth this wasn't his best memory of the trip due to a hard hit in the you know what. I honestly thought he was going to throw up. Then we got in inter tubes and waded down a river that took us through some cool caves. We had our head lamps on and everything. It was really cool. My only regret on this was that he offered to hook us all together and go down like a train but we thought we would venture out on our own. We I didn't realize was how much work it was going to be. It's hard to paddle yourself with just a little bit of arms and feet in the water. I kept falling behind and didn't really get to hear our guide explain very much. Needless to say my arms were killing by the end. Unfortunate thing is our pictures didn't turn out with our waterproof camera with no flash.

The last stop was Cozumel. We decided to just beach it that day. It was nice to have that relaxing day.

Then of course our trip home. We were back in New Orleans for the Super Bowl. It was absolutely crazy! Everyone was high fiving and hugging each other. I was so sick of hearing WHO DAT! Everywhere you turned. After they won we weren't far from Bourbon street so we decided to venture out into the crowd. It was insane. We made sure to hold hands tight so we wouldn't lose each other in the intense crowd. It was certainly a one in a life time experience.

Now it's time to leave but we got delayed at the airport because of tornado warnings in Houston our connecting flight. Once we got to Houston the last SLC flight had left. Thank goodness my uncle lives there and we dragged him out of bed so that we wouldn't have to spend the night at the airport.

The trip was a perfect balancing of activities and relaxing time. We had a blast! Thanks mom and Kristen for coming with us!

A special thanks to Rylee for doing an awesome job watching the girls. You really are amazing. Also thanks to Seth's family and the Wilkinson's for helping out as well. You guys are the best.

And YES I missed my girls so much!! I don't know what I was thinking when I planned this.

6 months

My girls are 6 months now. I can't believe how fast they are growing up. They are so chunky and big. They have made up from being preemies and are over the 50% in their weight and just shy of that for their height. Kloey is taller and liener weighing in just under 15lbs. Miss Liberty has passed her at 15.8 lbs. Considering that she was almost a pound smaller than Kloey she sure has made up for it. They are both on baby food now. Libby will pretty much eat anything. Kloey is still deciding about eating the vegetables but loves any fruit. They are super messy when they eat. Libby loves to dance and move around. She loves the bath! She splashes so big that it hits the vanity and gets me soaked. Kloey lasts just long enough for me to wash her and then she gets frustrated with getting splashed so much.

Kloey is doing much better. She hasn't had any more seizures. We met back with the neurologist and they said that they don't want to start another medicine unless she has another seizure. Yeah no more yucky medicine. We still have to Vitamin B6 which we can buy over the counter which will save us a lot of money.

They are going through a rough patch with their naps. Mom is getting very frustrated because now she really can't get anything done. One day Kloey will sleep well and Libby won't and then they will switch the next day or then they won't sleep at all. It makes for really ornery babies because I know they are still tired.

We are still trying to sale our house. So if anyone is interested please let us know. Well I don't have my camera with me so I will post some pictures later. Hope everyone is doing good.

My Poor Little Kloey

So it's been a rough couple of days. Kloey woke up Thursday morning with a really bad rash all over her body. We called the doctors office and said that most likely she has a virus but I should call up to nerology to make sure it didn't have anything to do with her seizures. Their office was closed so I had to track down the on call doctor. Yeap her rash was caused by the medicine. We had to stop all of her medicines and wait for the rash to go away before they started a new one. We were really nervous because that meant she may have seizures again. Luckily so far she hasn't had any. Then on Friday she woke up early in the morning on fire! She had a 103 degree temperature. We tried some Tylenol but that wasn't working. We tried her dr. office but they were closed because of the Holidays and didn't have a dr or nurse on call answering the phones. I left a message hoping that someone would call me back. So I called back up to Primary Children's Hospital again and they told me that it had nothing to do with her seizures and their department so to keep trying my dr office. We put another call into the dr's office and no on call people that day. Still waiting for a call we gave her a cool bath and a blessing and that seemed to help. She was so miserable she cried pretty much all day and had a hard time going to sleep. I had to hold her for awhile a couple of times trying to calm her down. This morning the dr office was open so I took her in to get looked at. Her temperature had gone down but she was still really hot to touch. Well we found out that she now has an ear infection. It is a totally separate issue from her rash and seizures. I'm am feeling really bad for her and what she has gone through and obviously more to come with finding another medicine. I hope we figure it out soon. I am wearing down and am getting a little on edge. My mom is back in town tonight and is going to watch them for awhile so I can go to the gym and take a hot bath to hopefully relieve some stress. Hope that rejuvenates me so I can be there for my girls.

Kloey is home from the hospital. They did many tests and still did not find out why she was having the seizures. Even though its frustrating to not find out why at least its not something really bad. They put her on seizure medication that has stopped them. She will have to be on it for a few years and then they will try to wein her off of them and hope they don't come back. She was the best baby while getting all hr tests done. The nurses called her the happiest baby here. They all just loved her. She was so excited to see her sister Libby. She just lite up with the biggest smile and reached out to touch her. It was the cutest thing ever. This is the first time they had been apart and both of them longed for each other. Thanks again for your prayers.

As some of you may know Kloey was admited to Primary Childrens on Sunday. She has been having seizures for the past couple of days. For awhile she was having them every 40 mins. They have run many test from brain scans, EEG's, MRI's, blood work, lumbar punctures, and nasal suctions. She has been in pretty good spirits considering all that's been going on. I have held up pretty good. Only a few breakdowns because of the pain she was going through.

We just got interupted by the doctor and she may get released today. Yeah! The still don't know what caused them but she'll be on seizure medicine's for a few years. We still have to follow up with other doctors to find out more but for now this is as good of news that we can get at this point.

Some good and some bad updates

So I have some photos of the girls I want to share. Things have been interesting the last couple weeks. A few weeks ago I got the flu and had to be away from my girls for five days. Thanks so much for everyone who took turns watching them. Then was some busy but good times with both families in town for Thanksgiving. I was able to put up my Christmas decorations and go to my friends annual Christmas party. But then comes the Whitney moment...The girls started to cry while they were napping. They hadn't been asleep that long so I was hurrying to calm then down so they would go back to sleep and I cut the corner sharp and my pinki finger got caught on the door molding and bent all the way back and I heard a crack. So I basicaly punch the door. It was killing me but I waited over night to see if it felt better and it hurt worse so my sister came over and I went to the urgent care center and got it x-rayed. Yep I broke my right hand. Once again I can't take care of my own kids. It's still swollen so the gave me a splint to wear until Friday and then I have to go back and getted casted. Then I have two go back in two week intervals to get it rex-rayed to make sure its healing right. Oh what fun! Well its hard to type one handed so I am just going to post the pictures now.

Arizona and Halloween fun

I spent all of last week in Arizona visiting my brother and his family. It was good to see them. We did everything from the pumpkin patch, the park, trunk or treats, eating out and home cooked meals. I was sad that most of the week it was pretty chilly and windy but hey at least it wasn't snowing. It warmed up the last day we were there of course. I was so sad that we had to go home just when it started to get warm again. I love Halloween in Az. It's actually warm enough that you don't have to cover up your costumes with coats and hats. I loved seeing everyones costumes. My brothers neighborhood does something really cool on Halloween night. They throw a big BBQ in the driveway before trick or treating. Everyone brought something and then after the food they lined up their lawn chairs and got out the bucket of candy and lined the driveway. The kids loved hitting gold when they came to this house because they were so many people handing out candy at one house. It was so much fun. I think I want to make this a tradition to come down here. Well at least until the kids are in school. Here are some pictures of our adventures over the last couple of weeks.

So Big!

The girls are getting so big. We went to the doctors on Monday for their check up. They will be 3 months next week! I can't believe how fast they are growing. They are 10 lbs now. I can't believe they have gained 5 lbs since they were born. Can you image carrying around 20 lbs of baby and then at least five lbs for each car seat. Thats over 30 lbs and they are only 3 months. I don't know what I'm going to do as they get even bigger. If you look at their age they are below normal but if you consider they were a month early they are right on track. Pretty much average on everything. Kloey is slightly bigger on everything except the head. Libby has a bigger head. I am glad they are healthy and strong. They are starting to finally fit into 0-3 months and even some 3 month clothes. Kloey still makes the funniest faces. Libby is starting to make baby noises but Kloey hasn't made other sounds besides her little whin. They are getting better at smiling and focusing on things. Libby loves to watch football with Grandpa Lee Bob and also likes Baby Einsteins.

Boys II Men

So last Friday I ventured out of the house with the girls (no babysitter was available) and stood in line to get Boys II Men tickets at the State Fair. For the first little while the girls were sleeping. But after waiting for about 20 minutes in the long line the girls were starting to stir. Then a lifesaver guy walked up to me and asked if I could use two tickets! I was so thankful because that's just what I needed! My sister and I had a great time at the concert. Boys II Men was awesome live. It was kind of funny to see them kind of old doing the old school dancing moves. But it took me back to when I was a little girl. I remember seeing them before they made it at the Gallreya and then when they did become big it was my first big concert I ever went to. Anyway we had a blast! I can't get the video to post so you just get the picture of me and Ry.

Labor day

We took the girls swimming on Monday. They have been in the water other times but I didn't get any pictures on my camera. But this time they stayed in the water a lot longer. Kloey is still not sure about it, but I can tell Libby is going to be a fish. She just loved it.

I caught Kloey doing this the other day. I guess she was hungry and thought the play matt was tasty.

The girls are getting so big. They will be two months old next Wednesday the 2nd. I can't belive they are that old. The time sure does go by fast. They are getting bigger and bigger. It is already challenging to carry two car seats at the same time and they are only going to get heavier. I am in trouble. They just get cuter and cuter everyday. They are starting to be more awake in the day and they are learning to be awake to play a little bit instead of just being awake to eat and cry. We got the DVD of the Happiest Baby on the Block and it has really helped to calm the babies down and sleep longer. We have also started to do everything we can to keep them awake between 6 - 9pm so that they are really tired when it's time to go to bed and they are sleeping a lot longer now. They have made it about 6-8 hours a night. Yeah! They have the cutest personalities. They have kind of change places Libby is now more of the diva. She cries more and is harder to calm down. She sometimes struggles eating but I think its cause she is really gassy. Kloey is a pretty fast eater now and she will sleep longer. She is also funny because she does this big jerk thing and puts her hands above her head and gives you a crusty look if you scare her. They are just so fun.

I still need to post the pictures from their blessings but we don't have very many of them in their dresses so we are going to get them redressed and take some more pictures. I will post them as soon as I have them. Anyway here are some random pictures of them the past month.

Two Week Check Up

So yesterday we went to their two week check up. The girls are doing great! They are healthy and gaining weight. Kloey was born at 5 lbs 11 oz but lost a bunch of weight in the hospital. She was down to 5 lbs 3 oz close to when we got to take them home. She is now 5 lbs 14.5 oz. Liberty was 5 lbs when she was born. Got down to 4 lbs 11 oz in the hospital but now she weights 5 lbs 12 oz. Yeah my girls are almost 6 lbs. I am so glad they are doing well. I saw Dr. Wall over at the old Cottonwood Hospital. He was awesome. It took us forever to get in. It was almost 45 minutes before we got in but I understand why. He talked to us forever. He was so chill and made sure I felt comfortable with everything. I really liked him. Poor Liberty had to have her tongue clipped. It bleed a little bit but she was ok. I just love being a mom. It so funny to her myself and others call me mom. I have waited so long for that!

Just to warn you this post is a little gross and graphic.

So I haven’t been feeling well for the past couple of days. I thought it was just from having the babies. Well I woke up yesterday morning with my pad leaking. So I got up and went to the bathroom and I was just gushing blood. It was getting everywhere so I decided to just jump in the shower. I started feeling light headed so I sat down and tried to wash my hair. I figured that’s as far as I would get so I got up and turned off the water and then I passed a major blood clot. It was like six inches long. I felt really dizzy and thought I should sit down. I don’t know what happened next. I just woke up with the shower curtain on top of me. I yelled for Seth and he got me to the bed where I called the emergency line to my doctor’s office. My doctor was out of the office that day but one of his partners was covering for him. He told me to come right in. I got there around 9:15 am and got in pretty quickly. He gave me an ultrasound and could see more blood clots in there. He told me he was going to admit me to give me some blood and fluids. I could feel myself gushing blood again so I hurried to the bathroom and thank goodness I had my mom to help me I passed four more clots the size of lemons. They didn’t have a bed open in the maternity/women’s center so they had to admit me into the main hospital but at least we avoided the emergency room. I was trying to change into my hospital gown and passed two more times. It scared my mom to death. They weren’t equipped to handle my case at the main hospital so they finally got me into the maternity center. I was given potocin (sp) which they give to patients to induce labor. And also another medication that does the same thing but I had it in a butt shot form so it would work quickly. So basically my uterus was contracting like crazy. They were trying to get the bleeding stopped quickly enough so they wouldn’t have to open me back up and do a DNC. They gave me two units of blood because of all the blood I lost. I continued to bleed and pass blood clots until later that evening. Basically the doctor said that my uterus just gave up from carrying twins and stretching so far. It just wasn’t doing what it needed to do and contract one it’s own down to a normal size. So instead of bleeding like a period for a couple of weeks, I was losing the blood all at once.

The day was so long and emotional for me. I cried more yesterday then I have in a long time. Thank goodness we had family and friends who came right over to watch the babies so that their mommy could get better. I am feeling better today and have a little bit more color. Thanks to any of you who already knew about this and prayed for us. We are so grateful for everyone and your thoughts and prayers!

1st week of life

Here are some pictures that we have taken over the past week. They are so sweet. They pretty much sleep 22 hours a day. We have found that Libby eats really well and pretty fast most of the time. Kloey on the other hand is very difficult at feeding time. She just doesn't want to wake up. I feel bad because we pretty much torcher her to get her awake but she has to eat every three hours so we can get her weight up. It's funny that all the pictures we have of their eyes open is Kloey. And she is never awake so I wonder how that happened. Maybe she is already posing for the camera. Libby is awake more but either we forget to take a picture or she falls alseep right as we are taking the picture.

I am so grateful to have all the help. Sometimes I feel bad that someone always has to be here but I do realize I just had major surgery and am not recovered from that yet. Plus there are TWO babies and until we can figure out a good system it's nice to have an extra pair of hands.

Kloey Ann and Liberty Lou

I am sorry that it took me so long to post this but believe it or not things have been pretty busy. As you know from my last post the doctor showed pitty on me and we were able to have a c-section on July 2, 2009. We were way excited and couldn't wait for the process to begin. It took a while to get all checked in but the babies were being very corporative so that was nice. Seth got to be in the surgical room the whole time. He was really good about coming over and giving me updates on the babies while I was being stitched up. Kloey came first at 2:52 pm. She weighed 5 lbs 11 oz and was 18 1/2 inches long. Next came Liberty at 2:54 pm. She weighed 5 lbs exactly and 19 inches long. I couldn't believe how different they were in size because usually in the past ultrasounds Liberty has always been bigger. I guess Kloey went threw he first growth spurt already. They have a bunch of similarities but they are definately faternal because they are also as different as can be. People say that Kloey looks a lot like me. She has my forhead and my dark hair. They also say that she makes some of the same faces as I do. Liberty has Seth's forhead, hair and eyes. But some still say that she looks like me more than him. But they both have the Cottle fingers and toes, so long. The babies are doing great. They have lost a little weight but that's normal for newborns. Liberty had a little problem for awhile with blood sugar level so we just have to make sure she keeps eating really well, every two hours. Other than that they haven't really had any problems. Which is awesome for premies. It's funny to say that because I don't think of them that way. They have been with us the whole time and haven't had to be hooked up to any machines. I know they are small but they seem big to me considering what I pictured premies to be.

Things have been a little hard on me. I feel bad that I haven't been able to be more involved but I know that as soon as I recover from surgery I be the main care giver so I will definetly will have plenty of time to bond with them. It's been hard being stuck in bed and needed help just to get up to the bathroom. Seth has been awesome in all of this. He has been taking care of two babies and me! and that is no easy task. He teased me saying that he hopes he goes before I do because he doesn't want to be back to changing adult diapers. He has been so good to me. He is so exhausted from doing all of it. He has only left the hospital twice and doesn't stay away long when he's gone. He is superman.

We have had a lot of vistors and help which has been so nice. Thank you to everyone who came. The days can kind of seem long when your stuck in a single room day and night. I will be released from the hospital on Monday. I hope that I will be more moblie by then or we're in trouble.

The twins keep us busy but they are so cute and adorable and we couldn't be more happy!

So you know that from my last post I have been complelty miserable the past couple of weeks. Well it started to really get me down so when I had my doctors appointment today I was having really strong contractions and I didn't hold anything back about how much pain I was in. I think the doctor could really see that I was reaching my limit. So he pulled some strings and got me in to do the amnio today. He didn't really give me any instructions when I left other than he was going to call me later tonight with the results. He called me earlier than I thought with the results and I was happy but kind of bummed. He started off by saying "when was the last time you ate". Of course I had just eaten. "Bummer because your test came back and you passed but you can't have food or drink for at least 5 hours before surgery and that would put you at 11:00pm and that's not good. I should have given you better instruction but I honestly didn't think you were going to pass the test. I'll call you back and see what we can do for tomorrow." So he called me back and I am going in at 3:30 for a 5:00 delivery time! Yeah I finally get to see those little girls! I can't wait! Just thought you would want to know. I will try and post tomorrow night about how it went but it may not be until the following morning. Sorry! How much more can I take!

So I have tried really hard to be upbeat and not complain much but I am at my breaking point. How can you be in labor but not have any babies to show for it. So for the past couple of weeks I have been having contractions. They are pretty consistant now coming every 3 minutes and are getting stronger and stronger. I have bruised or torn the cartlidge by my ribs so breathing has become difficult. But I STILL WON'T DILATE! So I am just wondering how long I can last like this! If you know your suppose to go to the hospital when you start having contractions 5 minutes apart, how am I suppose to know when to go. I mean how do I know when I finally start dilating since I can't rely on my contractions to tell me.

Well anyway we made a plan with the doctor that if they haven't come yet, at 36 weeks they do an amnio on the 7th and if things look good we have a scheduled c-section on July 8th. But that's so far away I think I would die if the contractions stay the whole time! So I am hoping that they come soon or that the contractions will slow down and not be so painful!

New Update

So here's the latest update and pictures. I am almost 34 weeks, almost 40cm, and have gained a lot of water weight as you can see have gone straight to my hands and feet. The swelling use to go down when I went to sleep but they don't anymore. They are that size all the time now. I can only wear flip flops. I had a non-stress test and the babies seem to be doing fine but I found out that the uncomfortable and painfull moments that I was having were actually contractions. I thought it was just the babies pushing out tring to make more room and making me really uncomfortable. I am having them about every 3-5 minutes but they aren't strong enough to cause dilation. The dr put me on some medicine to hopefully slow down the contractions so that we can make it another two weeks. But if there are any changes there's no stopping me going into labor. So basically they could come at any moment now. I am pretty much on rest now. Anyway here's the latest pictures of me.

Baby Update

So I don't have any new pictures or ultrasounds but I thought I would give a little update on how things are going. I am 32 weeks, 38 cm round, 70% effaced but not yet dialated. The babies are doing great, they are both around 4 lbs which is awesome. The doctor is hoping to make it another 3-4 weeks. Things are getting close. Hope things continue to go well.

Westover Family and Neighborhood Shower

Last week my cute sister-law-in Kristi flew in from Arizona to help my mom and my sister throw me a baby shower. They put so much time and energy into it and it turned out so cute. The decorations were amazing! We got lots of good things for our little girls. Thanks everyone for coming!

Rocky Point Mexico

Over conference we took a long weekend to Rocky Point Mexico. We flew in to Phoenix and picked up Jesse, Kristi and the boys, made a trip to Walmart to stack up on food and then headed the 3 1/2 hour drive down to Rocky Point. It was beautiful there. A little windy at times but a great little place. And yes we felt safe there the whole time. We stayed in an awesome condo that was so cute and spacious and had a great view of the golf course and the pools and ocean. We had a great relaxing time! I would definitely go back!

5 1/2 month baby bump!

Here is the latest baby bump. I feel like these pictures don't do me justice. I feel huge already and I still have awhile to go! I started my New York trip being able to button up my coat and then two days later, no such luck! The nurse said that by 24 weeks I will look like a full term singleton mom! That's only a couple more weeks!
